Atlanta's Liberal Arts and Sciences University

Founded in 1835, Atlanta's Oglethorpe University enrolls over 1,000 students representing 34 states and 28 countries. We are a member of the Annapolis Group, an organization of America’s most selective liberal arts institutions. OU is consistently listed among the best colleges in the Princeton Review and Forbes and has been named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll since 2006.

The Core

Sure, every university has a core curriculum-- a set of requirements you'll have to take in order to graduate. But only Oglethorpe has the Core. Ask any student or graduate and you'll find that the Core is as much a part of the OU experience as the gray stone and mortar or the famous Crypt of Civilization. Every student at Oglethorpe experiences the Core together, examining life's most vexing questions and building an intellectual foundation for a life, not just a job.

Great Ideas + Great Opportunity = Great Works

What do you get when you marry exceptional thinking with hands-on opportunities to explore and practice in one of the world's major cities? The answer-- an unparalleled education. Every OU student has the opportunity to build professional skills through internships in Atlanta, home to the 3rd largest concentration of Fortune 500 corporations in the US and over 1,250 multi-national corporations. All of our students make a difference, through extensive service learning and volunteer opportunities throughout the city. And you will experience the world on our diverse multicultural campus, in our global city or through one of our enriching international study experiences. Marrying ideas and opportunity is the hallmark of an Oglethorpe education.
