Renewal of Aid
Continuing students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each school year during which they wish to receive need-based financial aid. If your family’s income and financial profile remain similar year to year, you may expect your subsequent financial aid awards to remain similar as well.
The preferred deadline for receipt of a completed financial aid file is April 1. Applicants whose files become complete after this time will be considered based upon availability of funds.
For renewal of an Oglethorpe Scholars Award, all students must maintain a cumulative grade point average consistent with good academic standing. A 3.2 or higher grade point average is required for renewal of a James Edward Oglethorpe, Georgia Shakespeare, or Civic Engagement scholarship. In addition to the cumulative grade point average requirement, students must earn at least 24 semester hours during the current academic year. Students who are deficient in the number of hours required might choose to attend summer school at Oglethorpe. Students also have the option of submitting a written appeal to the director of financial aid. Students who meet the scholarship renewal criteria will have their awards automatically renewed for the next academic year.
