Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling

The federal government requires that students complete a entrance counseling session prior to obtaining a Federal Stafford Loan.

Oglethorpe is happy to offer the option to complete this session online through our partner service, Mapping Your Future. The following link will take you directly to the online session. Choose "Georgia" from the first pull-down menu and "Oglethorpe University" from the second. You will need about 25 minutes to complete the session, as well as handy access to basic personal information such as your Social Security number and your driver's license number.

Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling

Created with the help of students and financial aid professionals, Online Student Loan Counseling enables students to complete the counseling requirement anytime, anywhere. The purpose of the session is to help you understand your rights and obligations as a student loan borrower. This student loan counseling session will prepare you for proper management of your student loan, helping you make the most of your higher education. True/false questions are given throughout the counseling session, and you must provide correct answers before being allowed to proceed. Upon completion of the student loan counseling session, you will complete an online form. This form is then sent to Oglethorpe via e-mail, notifying the financial aid office that you have met the loan counseling requirement.
