Welcome to Oglethorpe! The Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is pleased to support all technology resources available to the faculty, students, and staff of OU.
The department strives to provide an up-to-date computing environment that is both flexible and responsive to the ever-changing needs of the University. Services include operating the student computing labs, supporting faculty and staff desk-tops, and the OU network that keeps everyone connected. While our mission is technical, our service is always personal.

OASIS (Oglethorpe University Administrative and Student Information System) provides you with the common information you are looking for. You can stay current with Petrel Points, view and update your demographic data, view class schedule, open help desk calls, and, if you are a work-study employee, you will even be able to enter your timesheets online. IT SERVICES HELPDESK
The Helpdesk office is located in Goodman Hall. Our hours of operation are 8:30am – 5:30pm. We welcome all students to stop by and get acquainted. In addition to having a physical location, the Helpdesk is ONLINE!!! Please go to https://help.oglethorpe.edu for the Helpdesk Online. From there, you may submit a service for issues such as cable, OASIS, printing, photocopiers, and multimedia. One additional feature is the ability to track your Helpdesk calls as they happen. It is easy to use and is the fastest way to ensure you get service.

Oglethorpe currently has two computer labs available to you. Each are equipped with printers. One is located in Goodman Hall and is open 24 hours a day. The other is located in Goslin Hall, Room 109. You may also utilize the Library as a computer resource. The Library has several computers, printers, and fax machines available to you during their normal business hours. To access the computers, simply log in using your username and password.
Oglethorpe University recommends Microsoft Security Essentials for personal use by current students, faculty, and staff. This software protects your computer from viruses, spyware, and other security threats. The install instructions are straight-forward. Should you need assistance, please stop by the Helpdesk office in Goodman Hall.
You can also download the latest version of our anti-virus software via PetrelNet for home or dorm use.
Moodle is Oglethorpe University’s web-based classroom enhancement tool. Also known as a Course Management System (CMS), Moodle has become very popular among educators around the world as a tool for creating online dynamic web sites for their students. On Moodle, you will find eReserves as well as material for many of Oglethorpe’s classes. Such material could consist of the class syllabus, notes, lecture slides, assignments and more!
Your faculty member will tell you if and how Moodle is being used for your class.
To access Moodle, please go to http://moodle.oglethorpe.edu and login with your Oglethorpe ID and password.
Welcome to PetrelNet! PetrelNet is Oglethorpe University’s internal online community. Here, you can have fun as well as access valuable documents and information about things happening on campus. PetrelNet is comprised of several parts to make your OU life easier and more enjoyable.
The latest OU news and announcements can always be found on PetrelNet. Check here to see what is going on around you. You can also look up the contact information for faculty and staff on campus. The latest menu for the cafeteria is available right on the front page. There is even local weather and traffic to help you plan your day.
PetrelNet is the repository of forms that you may need to fill out for various activities and functions at the university. There is also information from the different departments on campus to help keep you informed on procedures and functions as you experience your campus life. In addition, there are special areas of PetrelNet for organizations and groups that are only accessible to them. This allows you to share and collaborate with students, faculty and staff as you plan and prepare for your meetings and events.

There is a lot of fun you can have on PetrelNet. On the front page, you can find Fun Web Links (FWL)! FWL is your link to some of the craziness that is on the interwebs. There are polls that you can participate in which are updated regularly. There are also open discussions here where you can voice your opinion or share something with the rest of Oglethorpe.
And then there’s…
Here you can create your own personal space on PetrelNet!Similar to Facebook, you can upload and share photos, opinions, blog or do whatever you would like to do. You can also check in with your neighbors to see what they are doing. Unlike other online communities, MySite is restricted to only people who have an Oglethorpe ID. So, it is a safe space! Nevertheless, you can still link to your Facebook or other sites here to show your friends where they can find you.
