Dale First Freshman, Female To Nab Academic All-American Honors
Dale with President Larry Schall and Director of Golf Jim Owen
Oglethorpe University freshman Katie Dale learned on Monday that she was named to the National Golf Coaches Association 2006-2007 All-American Scholar Team. In doing so, Dale became the first freshman in school history to earn such a distinction as well as the first female in school history to earn the Academic All-American honor.
Only 368 women’s collegiate golfers from Division I, II and III were bestowed with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% (Division I) or 66% (Division II & III) of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
