Oglethorpe’s intramural and recreational programs offer all students, faculty and staff the opportunity to enjoy the fun and participation of team sports and outdoor activities. The 2008-2009 intramurals line-up includes flag football, basketball, tennis and volleyball, with kickball and ultimate frisbee in the spring season. Intramural athletics are popular with both men and women, and all students are welcome to participate. For those inclined to table-top competition, a ping-pong championship and an eight-ball pool championship will also be on the horizon in the coming year. Instruction in areas such as fencing, ballroom dancing and yoga may be available as well.
The OUtdoor Program offers Oglethorpe students seasonal opportunities to travel off-campus and enjoy outdoor adventures in the beautiful landscapes of North Georgia and the surrounding region. A fall kayaking adventure, a winter snow-tubing/skiing trip and a spring kayaking/whitewater experience will be among this year’s OUtdoor offerings.
