Feature story on Oglethorpe's Center for Civic Engagement
from TBS' Storyline.

Oglethorpe's Center for Civic Engagement has become the leading force in integrating the Oglethorpe educational experience with the city of Atlanta, enhancing student life through service learning, volunteer projects, student internships and leadership development.

The center focuses on four key areas of service: education, environment, health and wellness and homelessness and hunger. Our educational partners are Ed S. Cook Elementary, Charles R. Drew Charter School and PATH Academy.

In collaboration with Hands On Atlanta, the center has organized community service projects for freshman orientation, Hands On Atlanta Day and National and Global Youth Service Day, in addition to numerous other local projects. The center also coordinates alternative breaks, including regular trips to help rebuild New Orleans.

The center coordinates Oglethorpe's OUr Atlanta program, familiarizing students with the world-class businesses and organizations that call Atlanta home.

For upcoming projects and events, please see the university calendar. Visit the center to sign up for projects or events.
