Oglethorpe University's OUr Atlanta program connects first-year students with many of the world-class businesses and organizations that call Atlanta home. OUr Atlanta allows students the opportunity to experience Atlanta's arts, athletic, business, research and civic enterprises while stimulating thoughts of what the students may in turn offer the city.

Thanks to the support of our Board of Trustees, Oglethorpe students have received access to many of Atlanta's major cultural and business institutions, including:

• High Museum of Art, director's tour

• Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, tour with Jack Guynn, President and CEO

• 7 Stages, attend Atlanta premiere of Caryl Churchill's "A Number" and
  chat with director Joe Gfaller

• Atlanta City Hall, met with city leaders before a city council meeting

• Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

• Atlanta Hawks, pre-game Q&A with the owners

Providing these experiences to our new students underscores Oglethorpe's vital connection to Atlanta, while bringing the city to life for our students. These meaningful and memorable experiences in the freshmen year will solidify students' connections to friends of Oglethorpe and to the city, and they, in turn, will become ambassadors for all that Oglethorpe and Atlanta have to offer. When these students graduate and establish their careers in Atlanta, as most Oglethorpe alumni do, they will be leaving college as engaged, enlivened and contributing citizens of the community that has welcomed them.

Spring 2007 trips included visits to DeKalb Farmers Market, Underground Atlanta, Stone Mountain Park and The Carter Center.
