Oglethorpe University’s OUr Atlanta program takes first year students out of the classroom and into the city by connecting them with Atlanta’s world-class businesses and
nonprofit organizations through the First Year Seminar classes.
Oglethorpe students have experienced a variety of Atlanta’s culturally rich, historic institutions through the OUr Atlanta program, including:
Atlanta Symphony
Orchestra
Atlanta History Center
The Carter Center
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention
Global Health Odyssey Museum
Center for Puppetry Arts
CNN Center
The Coca-Cola Company Headquarters
Fernbank Museum of Natural History
The Georgia Aquarium
High Museum of Art
The King Center
World of Coca-Cola
Zoo Atlanta
Providing these experiences to our new students underscores Oglethorpe's vital connection to Atlanta, while bringing the city to life for our students. These meaningful and memorable experiences in the freshmen year will solidify students' connections to friends of Oglethorpe and to the city, and they, in turn, will become ambassadors for all that Oglethorpe and Atlanta have to offer. When these students graduate and establish their careers in Atlanta, as most Oglethorpe alumni do, they will leave college as engaged, enlivened and contributing citizens of the community that has welcomed them.
