The library functions as a gateway to research
information and services in support of the University's
academic programs. The library also serves as the University Archives and supports the extracurricular
interests of the Oglethorpe community.
The collection: The library houses over 150,000
volumes consisting of books, reference materials, print
periodicals, audio-visual materials, and microfilm. Two
areas of note include a collection of over 1,600 DVDs and
a juvenile literature collection. The library also
provides access to many electronic resources such as
GALILEO (Georgia's Virtual Library) and over 13,000 full
text periodicals.
Services include reference and instruction,
interlibrary loan and use, and wireless computer access.
Facilities include research workstations,
private study rooms, a 24-hour lounge, small media viewing
rooms, and the Earl Dolive Theatre.
