RESIDENCE HALL ASSOCIATION (RHA)

Oglethorpe University - RHA

2012-2013 Residence Hall Association Executive Board & Hall Representatives

What is the Residence Hall Association?

The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is a student organization and the coordinating organization for residential students across campus.  RHA’s goal is to help develop residence hall policies, procedures, programs, and facilities to best serve the interests of those students living on campus.  To that end, the association’s elected representatives from each hall work with Residence Life staff on residents’ behalf. To learn more about the organization, you may read the current RHA Constitution.

Who is a member?

All residential students!  If you are living on campus, you are a member of the Residence Hall Association.

What does RHA do?

We host programs for residents across campus.  This year, in particular, with more students living on-campus means we are able to have bigger programs and more fun!  In addition to programming, we assist with writing policies and procedures for the residence halls on campus.  Our main purpose is to give the residents at Oglethorpe a voice!

How much does it cost to attend RHA events?

Nothing!  All events are free to residential students who have paid to live on campus!

Are we recognized regionally/nationally?

As an organization, we represent Oglethorpe University to the rest of the region and the nation.  SAACURH is the South Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls and meets in the fall.  NACURH is the National Association of College and University Residence Halls and is the largest student run organization in the world.

What is NRHH?

The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is focused on promoting community service and recognition through Housing and Residence Life!  NRHH is an organization that is made up of the top 1% of Residence Hall residents. The primary function of NRHH is to provide recognition for individuals who have provided outstanding service or exceptional leadership within the Residence Halls, while exhibiting continued academic success and providing community service at Oglethorpe.

When do we meet?

The RHA General Body meets every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Juvenile Reading Room in the Library. All are welcome and encouraged to join our meetings!
