Mr. Nooner is a student-focused Technical Theatre Professor with an emphasis on experiential learning, both in the traditional classroom environment as well as in a hands-on production setting. He is consistently striving to create an engaging educational environment that is both challenging to students and encourages life long learning. He is invested in the continuation of professional design to keep his craft keen and connections current.

Honors/awards:

  • Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award:
    Established in 1991, the Vulcan Teaching Excellence Awards honor an outstanding professor on selected member campuses of the Georgia Independent College Association. The annual award is presented to a member of the faculty in recognition of excellence in teaching, commitment to student success, and leadership to enhance campus community.
  • Suzi Bass Award:
    The mission of the Suzi Bass Awards is to celebrate and promote Atlanta professional theatre through the evaluation and recognition of excellence.
  • The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane produced by Synchronicity Theatre and designed by Jon Nooner received the Suzi Bass award for Outstanding Production in the category of Theatre for Young Audiences. Additionally the show was nominated for Outstanding Design Team.
