Sigrira Perret-Gentil received her MFA in Photography from Georgia State University in 2003 and a BA in Psychology from Emory University in 1996. She grew up in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, and at age twelve moved to the American South with her family. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Dutch and Papiamentu.

Sigrira has been actively exhibiting her work nationally and locally. Recently in 2009, she was included in the International Exhibit on Animals in Art at LSU in Baton Rouge, LA with her image titled "Bianca receiving her yogurt treat." The same piece was also exhibited during 219 The Show at Fine Line Gallery in Atlanta, GA. Her work has also been selected to be a part of the upcoming Herding Cats exhibition at The Brush Art Gallery in Lowell, MA.

Her work can be found in private collections and an excerpt from her thesis may be viewed online as part of the Animality Monograph which she was invited to be a part of.

Sigrira has been teaching photography at Oglethorpe University since 2005 and prior to that she also taught at Georgia State University and Emory University. Her classes include Introduction to Photography, Introduction to Digital Photography, Concepts in Photography and Methods in Photography.

Currently Sigrira is working on a photographic book project and on a series about Halloween. She has been photographing Atlanta area homes and parades during the holiday for the past few years.
