Have you ever noticed how many liberal arts colleges are located in the middle of nowhere? Not Oglethorpe. Just beyond our campus walls awaits one of the world’s great cities-- a hands-on laboratory where our students test and practice what they learn through real-world internships and international study.
Gateway to the world, Atlanta is home to 24 general consulates and 36 honorary consulates and was host of the 1996 Summer Olympics. Our students have easy access to short and long-term study abroad opportunities with the world’s busiest airport, headquarters of Delta Airlines, in our city.
But you don't have to fly to experience the world. Atlanta is home to the 3rd largest concentration of Fortune 500 corporations in the country. Over 75% of Fortune 1000 companies have a presence in our city. Oglethorpe students have the opportunity to intern at companies with household names like Coca Cola, CNN, Home Depot, UPS, Newell-Rubbermaid and nonprofits like the American Cancer Society, Carter Center, Girl Scouts of America, Habitat for Humanity International and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Atlanta also has the largest concentration of federal agencies outside of Washington, D.C.; is the state capital and home of the Georgia state government; is a global healthcare center and headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; is a major center for music, film and television production; and home to the world’s 2nd largest convention center.
Take a look around. You will be hard-pressed to find another liberal arts college with so much opportunity right at your doorstep. And with our Center for Experiential Learning, that opportunity is yours.
