Dr. Wynter-Parks is an Assistant Professor of French. Her courses cover the French language (grammatical rules, vocabulary, idiomatic expressions that you typically associate with learning to speak a language) and also cultural knowledge in France and other French-speaking spaces in the world.
Cultural knowledge is transmitted through the varieties of written and spoken French as well as what we might think of as cultural monuments and practices from French-speaking spaces such as art forms (literature, art, music and more), celebrations, rituals, gathering styles and food-related phenomena, for example. Since language is obviously present in scientific, philosophical technological and commercial realms, we can also glean cultural approaches in those fields too. Don’t think language is just for those interested in the humanities!
