Judith (a.k.a. Judie) Levy has a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Emory University, along with a M.A., B.A., and Teaching Writing Certificate from California State University, Fullerton. She has been teaching Writing Composition courses since 2012. She currently teaches first-year Core, Narratives of the Self, which doubles as first-year writing, along with the third-year Historical Perspectives course. She loves directing the Core program because of its interdisciplinary nature, along with the way that Core involves cross-campus collaboration. Her love for the Atlanta community has led her to support on public realm initiatives and help organize local events, including serving as Director of Communications for Virginia Highland District Association from August 2020 to August 2023.

Areas of Interest/Research:
Judie’s research focuses on postcolonial and migrant literature of the Caribbean and North Africa, investigating how historical literature exposes bias, silence and exploitation in history. She has experience in Writing Program curriculum and assessment, and has experience with revising honor codes at two universities. She is also invested in writing in non-academic contexts, including website building as part of her course design and pedagogical practices.
