I’m Admitted!

CONGRATULATIONS on your Admission!
Here Are Your Next Steps:


Phase 1: I’ve Been Admitted!

  1. Review your preliminary evaluation: Within a week of admission you’ll receive a preliminary transfer credit evaluation. An official evaluation is provided by the registrar’s office once you’ve officially decided to transfer to Oglethorpe and official transcripts are received.
    • Be sure to review details on transfer course equivalencies for Oglethorpe’s unique general education program, the Core Curriculum. All transfer students will complete some Core courses while enrolled at Oglethorpe.

  2. Look for your merit scholarship notification. Most transfer students receive a merit scholarship, and you’ll receive this notice via email from the Office of Admission. Congratulations on your success!
  3. Understand your full financial aid award letter. Within two weeks of admission you’ll receive your full financial aid award letter that will include all aid you are eligible to receive, including merit scholarship, federal/state aid, and Oglethorpe need-based aid. We know finances are an important part of college planning so please reach out if you have any questions about your award.

Phase 2: I’m Ready to be a Petrel!

Great! We are glad you’ve decided to join the Oglethorpe community.

    1. Complete the Enrollment Response form in your Petrel Portal and place your enrollment deposit to confirm your plans. (Here’s a link to log in.)
    2. Once your payment goes through (it can take up to 24 hours) check back in your Petrel Portal and complete the forms that have been added to your checklist.
    3. Make sure Oglethorpe has all of your final official transcripts.
      1. Transfer credits are added to your student record once official transcripts are received. You may be improperly advised if you have course credits that are not in your student record because we did not receive an official transcript.
      2. Oglethorpe grants transfer credit for Advanced Placement once an official score report is received. See here for all AP score transfer equivalencies.
      3. Oglethorpe also grants transfer credit for International Baccalaureate (IB) courses and diplomas once an official IB transcript is received. See here for the full IB transfer credit policy.
    4. 4. Wait to hear from your advisor! Your academic advisor will reach out to you soon to schedule a meeting.

Phase 3: How can I prepare for my first semester?

*Make sure Oglethorpe has all of your final official transcripts and scores*

This is the single most important thing you need to do to prepare for your first semester at OU.

Other important items:

  • Set up your Oglethorpe email and check it often!
    • Visit OASIS at oasis.oglethorpe.edu and log in with your OU username and the last 6 digits of your social security number*. You’ll be prompted to change your password. Once you’ve reset your password, visit here to log into your email: outlook.com/oglethorpe.edu
      * If you do not have a social security number a PIN number will be provided. Please contact your admission counselor if you haven’t received it!
  • Make a plan for financing your education. Once available, bills can be viewed in OASIS. Information about billing / financial aid / payment plans is available through the Hub for Enrollment Services: hub.oglethorpe.edu.
  • Log into Student planning to make sure your transfer credits have been added to your student account, and start mapping out your degree-completion plan.
  • Complete a housing application. You’ll receive this information via email when the application is open. All students must complete the housing application every semester even if planning to live off-campus. 
  • Check online for the Welcome Weekend / Orientation schedule. The website will be updated when information is available.
