Dr. Lynn M. Guhde is the Mack A. Rikard Chair of Business & Economics, a Professor of Business Administration and Chair of the Economics and Business division for the Hammack School of Business at Oglethorpe University. She joined the faculty at Oglethorpe University in 2003 after 17 years teaching in the state systems of Pennsylvania and New York. In Dr. Guhde’s 30 year career in higher education, she has a taught a range of management courses from the introductory course to courses in leadership, human resource management, labor relations, and strategy. Her second area of teaching interest is statistics and business analytics. Dr. Guhde is passionate about student learning and mentorship, and is committed to academic excellence.
Dr. Guhde has served as division chair for over 12 years and in that time has overseen tremendous growth in the division. She was instrumental in the revision of the Business and Human Resource Management majors, the development of the nonprofit and HRM minors and the restructuring of the division’s internship process. In total, she has developed over seven new courses. Twice she has taught in the Global Oglethorpe 5-week summer program in Rome, Italy and has supervised numerous student internships.
Dr. Guhde is the recipient of several awards including the Vulcan Materials Co. Teaching and Leadership Award, Omicron Kappa Delta (Leadership Honor Society), Chi Omega Professor of the Year, and the Donald C. Agnew Award for Distinguished Service. She received her undergraduate degree in Business from Slippery Rock State College and her M.B.A. and Ph.D. from Kent State University.
