Chinese Politics, Asian Politics, and Political Development. Research interests include Chinese local government, central-local relations, and contemporary economic ideologies.


  • June 2017: invited to give a lecture at Yale University’s Macmillan Center Summer PIER Institute (Programs in International Educational Resources) on connections between the study of African Literature and African American Literature.
  • May 2017: invited speaker on featured panel about “The Future of Multi-ethnic American Literatures” at 31st Annual MELUS Conference at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
