2026 graduates close out time at Oglethorpe with Senior Week activities

The end of the spring semester is quickly approaching, and for graduating seniors, that means their time at Oglethorpe is also coming to an end as they prepare to graduate on May 9. The class of 2026 plans to celebrate their academic achievements with memorable Senior Week activities, which begin on Wednesday, May 6, due to the final exams schedule.

Wednesday, May 6 – A Time to Escape + Field Day Fun, 4:30 – 9:00 p.m.
The fun kicks off with a combined experience featuring a mobile escape room, bounce house obstacle course, and a field day-style event in the library and surrounding areas. This event is designed to be highly engaging and interactive, with an emphasis on community, participation and energy.

Wednesday Night, May 6 – Midnight to Morning: Senior Library Lock-In, midnight – 7:00 a.m.
Following the daytime programming, graduates are invited to attend the Senior Lock-In in the library. Programming will include games, food, a movie and crafts, creating a relaxed, social overnight experience for seniors.

Thursday, May 7 – Graduation Rehearsal, Class Photo and Carillon Ceremony, 4:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Seniors will meet in the Library Atrium at 4:00 p.m. for a full rundown on commencement information, tips and etiquette before going through a rehearsal for Saturday’s ceremony. The entire graduating class will gather for a special class photo right after.

Following rehearsal, students are invited to participate in the highly anticipated Oglethorpe tradition, the Carillon Ceremony. The event centers on a Senior Sunset theme, encouraging seniors to dress in cocktail attire as they gather to celebrate and ring the carillon bells. The ceremony will include a reception in Lupton Auditorium, featuring karaoke, music bingo, dinner, and giveaways for graduates who fill out the First Destination Survey. Please RSVP for the Carillon Ceremony by April 24

Friday, May 8 – President’s Reception, 4:00 p.m.
To wrap up the week before commencement, seniors and their families are invited to a special reception in the Turner Lynch Campus Center hosted by President Kathryn McClymond

“Senior Week is a time to celebrate the dedication and hard work of our graduating class,” says Senior Class President Ivy Nganga ’26. “It’s an opportunity to reflect on the memories we’ve made and create a few more with the people who made our college experience so meaningful. We hope all seniors come out to be recognized and enjoy this moment together.”

The festivities conclude with the commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9, at 9:00 a.m. The livestream and all relevant information are available on the commencement website
