Russell took the lead in a campus meal-packing event in collaboration with Operation Feed, focused on food insecurity and empowering students to make a tangible difference in their community.

“Service is something I hope to continue promoting because its impact is transformational,” says Russell. “Empowering my classmates to use their skills to be civically engaged brings me tremendous joy.”

In addition to her service initiatives, Russell serves on the Inclusive Excellence Committee at Oglethorpe, which discusses issues affecting students. She is also the fundraising chair for Mock Trial, and she is a fellow with The King Center, further reflecting her commitment to leadership, advocacy and civic engagement.

“Jourdan embodies the very best of student leadership,” said Dr. Meredith Raimondo, vice president of student affairs. “She leads with empathy, purpose and a genuine commitment to service, and her impact is felt not only in the initiatives she leads, but in the way she inspires others to get involved.”
