Oglethorpe University will welcome alumna and nationally recognized sports business analyst Kristi Dosh ’03 as the next speaker in the Mack A. Rikard Lecture Series on Tuesday, March 3, at 5 p.m. The lecture will take place in the I.W. “Ike” Cousins Center for Science and Innovation.
Dosh, who earned her bachelor’s degree in politics from Oglethorpe, founded BusinessofCollegeSports.com, a widely used resource for collegiate athletics news and analysis. She is also the author of two books on college sports: Saturday Millionaires: How Winning Football Builds Winning Colleges and The Athlete’s NIL Playbook: The Complete Guide to Owning and Profiting from Your Name, Image, and Likeness. Dosh serves as a consultant for universities and Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) collectives nationwide and teaches NIL coursework at the University of Florida.
“Oglethorpe is where I learned to think critically and communicate confidently. Those are skills that have shaped every chapter of my professional life,” Dosh said. “I’m honored to return to Oglethorpe and engage with the next generation of leaders who will influence the future of college athletics, business and beyond.”
Dosh has built a national reputation as an authority on the business of college athletics. She has reported for ESPN, Forbes, Sports Business Journal, The Washington Post and other major outlets.
“Kristi exemplifies the intellectual curiosity, professional agility and ethical leadership that define our alumni,” Oglethorpe University President Kathryn McClymond said. “Her voice has shaped national conversations around the business of college sports, and we are proud to welcome her home to share that expertise with our students.”
Established in 1991, the Rikard Lecture Series introduces students to contemporary issues in business through presentations by distinguished leaders across industries. It is named for Mack A. Rikard ’37, an Oglethorpe alumnus, Athletic Hall of Fame member, Trustee Emeritus and former president of Allied Products Company. Rikard was a strong supporter of Oglethorpe athletics and student scholarships.
“The Rikard Lecture Series connects students with leaders who are navigating some of the most complex issues in today’s business landscape,” Hammack School of Business Dean Stephen Craft said. “Kristi’s work sits at the intersection of law, finance, athletics and public policy. Her perspective will resonate deeply with students preparing for careers shaped by rapid industry change.”
Over more than three decades, the series has featured high-profile speakers including Donna Hyland of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, S. Truett Cathy of Chick-fil-A, Inc., Annie and John Odell of Kinko’s, Ann Cramer of IBM and William Johnston of the New York Stock Exchange. Recent lecturers have included Atlanta Business Chronicle publisher David Rubinger and Stuckey’s CEO R.G. Lamar ’05.
The event is free and open to the campus community.
