Oglethorpe students kick off the year with QuadFest

The first week of classes at Oglethorpe marks the start of new academic journeys, and students celebrated in style at one of the community’s most beloved traditions: QuadFest.

This year’s theme, “Petey’s Day at the Fair,” transformed the academic quad into a lively festival space complete with a chair swing, petting zoo, dunk tank, inflatable obstacle course, funnel cakes, and more. The annual event gave students the chance to relax, connect with friends, and enjoy a well-earned break after a busy first week.

Earlier in the week, new Petrels gathered for Oglethorpe’s Convocation ceremony, where they officially pledged the university’s academic honesty code, marking the beginning of their college experience. QuadFest offered the perfect counterbalance, inviting students to cut loose and make memories in a fun, festive atmosphere.

As the summer heat gave way to cooler breezes that hinted at fall, students filled the Quad with laughter and energy, making this year’s QuadFest a day to remember.
