Research funding is available to Oglethorpe undergraduates, thanks to the Philip Weltner Library student research development fund, established in 2016.
Beginning Monday, Nov. 3, students may apply for funding to defray costs incurred while conducting or presenting research. Eligible uses of funds include attending conferences, research-related equipment and logistical expenses.
“A pillar of the liberal arts and sciences is hands-on research,” says Eli Arnold ’06, Director of the Philip Weltner Library. “The Library is honored to be able to support students in this high-impact practice.”
The student research development fund has awarded nearly 100 stipends since 2016. In past years, students have used the funding within a wide range of disciplines, including biology, art history, English, chemistry, linguistics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, theatre and philosophy.
All students are eligible to apply, with the exception of those already receiving stipends through the Honors program. The deadline to apply online is Friday, Nov. 14, 2025.
Applications will be evaluated by a committee comprised of Dr. Sarah Terry, Dr. Lea Alford, Dr. Seema Shrikhande and Evie Wang.
