Scholarship Weekend Details

MEALS

Oglethorpe will provide food and refreshments during the time you spend on campus for Scholarship Weekend. The events you attend may include coffee stations, lunch buffets, an hors d’oeuvres reception, snacks, and party food stations on Saturday. Atlanta also boasts many excellent restaurants where you may choose to dine on your own on Friday night and during your visit.

ATTIRE

Scholarship Weekend attire will be business casual. No jeans, please. Plan to wear comfortable walking shoes (we mean it!) as program sessions will occur in many parts of campus. Atlanta’s average temperature in January is about 43°F, but be sure to check the local weather forecast as you prepare. Your attire should allow you to feel at ease throughout the day, and the leaders, interviewers, and presenters will understand this. If in doubt, choose comfort over formality! We want you to enjoy your time with us.

MUSICAL ACTIVITIES

Membership in University Singers requires an audition; University Singers is a mixed-voice concert choir and one-credit-hour course. A limited number of Singers audition slots may be available to candidates (with priority to out-of-town students). Candidates may also inquire about OU’s instrumental ensembles: the OU Winds, string quartet, and Stormy Petrel Pep Band. Please indicate your interest on the RSVP form.

PARENT & GUEST PROGRAMMING

Attendance at Scholarship Weekend is optional but encouraged for parents and guests! There will be a full track of “Parent and Guest Programming,” complete with information about financial aid and internships, meetings with faculty and administrators, and time for campus tours. There will be unique parent programming on Friday and Saturday.

NO COMMITMENT NECESSARY

Scholarship Weekend is the perfect opportunity to decide if Oglethorpe is the best fit for you! You do not have to commit to attending the institution in order to attend Scholarship Weekend.
