Get ready for non-stop laughter as Oglethorpe University Theatre kicks off the season with “Time Flies: Short Comedies by David Ives”, coming to the Conant Performing Arts Center this October. This evening of award-winning comedies promises a blend of wit, intellect, satire, and pure fun.
The lineup features six hilarious one-act plays, including “Sure Thing”, “The Mystery at Twicknam Vicarage”, “Soap Opera”, “Variations on the Death of Trotsky”, “Babel’s in Arms”, and “Time Flies.”
In the titular “Time Flies,” two lonely and love-struck mayflies discover they’ve only got 24 hours to live—turning a romantic date into a race against time.
Each short play offers a fresh comedic twist, as Oglethorpe’s talented student actors embrace exciting new roles that will keep audiences entertained and laughing all night long.
“Producing six short plays provides an opportunity to cast a lot of students in pieces that are less demanding of their time than a full-length play,” says Associate Professor of Theatre Matt Huff.
“Since we’re producing two shows this semester plus a student-directed piece, I wanted this first production to be a more manageable time commitment while still involving a lot of students. “
