International studies student receives Rotary scholarship for Norway study abroad

Izzy Forster ’25

Oglethorpe University junior Isabel (Izzy) Forster was recently awarded the prestigious Otis Jackson Scholarship by the Buckhead Rotary Foundation to study at the University of Oslo in Norway.

The Rotary Club of Buckhead endorsed Forster’s application to the Oslo International Summer School Scholarship, an opportunity made possible through a partnership with the Georgia Rotary Student Program.

The scholarship for the six-week summer program includes airfare, university room and board, 12 credit hours of undergraduate coursework or one graduate course, and a weekend excursion.

The merit-based Otis Jackson Scholarship is awarded to Oglethorpe students who demonstrate academic achievement, athletic ability, character, and leadership — qualities of the late Otis M. Jackson ’24.

Salutatorian of Oglethorpe’s Class of 1924, Jackson was an outstanding athlete and leader on campus. He was captain of the basketball team and was subsequently elected to the Oglethorpe Athletic Hall of Fame in 1971.

Like Jackson, Forster is highly involved on campus. She is a member of the Oglethorpe Rotary Club, the Global Ambassadors Program, and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She is also a resident assistant and a member of the Oglethorpe’s Women’s Tennis team.

The Rotary Club of Buckhead announced Forster as the 2024 Oslo International Summer School Recipient for District 6900 in a LinkedIn post:

“We are so proud of you and are excited for [what the] journey ahead will mean for you! Congrats!”
