Fall Career and Graduate Fair connects students with top employers and graduate schools

Oglethorpe University’s campus center teemed with eager students attending the annual Career and Graduate Fair Oct. 24. Hosted by Oglethorpe Career Development, the fair invites local and out-of-state employers and graduate programs to campus, allowing students to network, pass out resumes, snap a new headshot and learn about part-time and full-time opportunities available to them after graduation.

Sixty organizations were represented this year, offering a variety of career pathways to the more than 280 students who came through. Among the organizations were top employers like The Carter Center, Deloitte, Gray Media, The Peace Corps, Synovus Bank, Enterprise Mobility, Zaxby’s and MSTiller.

“The career fair has been great and informative,” said biopsychology major Yolanda Loto ’26. “It gave me another outlook onto possibilities I might have aside from my major — careers and internships.”

The fair also welcomed several Oglethorpe University alumni back to campus. Many served as recruiters, offering the same career opportunities to students as they once had.

Winston Douglas ’07, Mu-Hung Fang Cardi ’05, and Trish Baldwin ’05 attended the event as panelists on the “Healthcare Career Community Panel,” which provided students with career insight from working healthcare professionals. The panel was the first of many events aimed at one of Oglethorpe’s recently-announced career communities, which aims to connect students with similar career aspirations to enriching development opportunities.

“I really enjoy coming to these events because not only does it teach you and open you up to other career paths out there, but it also gives you a chance to connect with people that might be on the exact path you want to be on,” said Roxine Rattray ’25, a biology major who attended the panel.

“I always enjoy coming to the fair and just seeing what’s out there, how I can improve, and it’s a good reminder that it doesn’t have to be stressful to find a job.”

Students were eager to make lasting impressions on recruiters, bringing their liberal arts background and signature Oglethorpe curiosity and professionalism to their networking.

“Today’s recruiters remarked how prepared our students were, and every connection is a possibility,” said Dr. Lisa Conley, Director of Career Development. “Building a relationship and making an impression on that recruiter is not just impactful in the moment—students may see that same recruiter at another organization as they go along their career paths!”
