Student Government Association
Student Government Association is the guiding body for student life at Oglethorpe University.
The Student Government Association (SGA) at Oglethorpe University is an opportunity for the student voice to be heard and represented in the Oglethorpe community. SGA has three branches: the Executive Council, the Senate and the Programming Board (PB). Each branch has representation from each class, and these representatives are selected during the annual SGA elections.
SGA meets weekly to discuss campus issues, bring awareness to student concerns, and works to administer the Student Activities Fee. All SGA meetings are open to the whole student body, and SGA encourages all students to be involved and participate in student government. All meeting minutes are available on the SGA OUConnect page.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES FEE
SGA is responsible for allocating and budgeting the Student Activities Fee (SAF) that all full-time, traditional undergraduate students pay each semester. The Student Activities Fee is used to support student-led events, help student organizations attend conferences and workshops, and assist campus departments in hosting student-focused activities.
To be eligible for receive SAF funding, a student organization must be officially recognized by the Student Government Association and be active in the Inter-Club Council. Organizations requesting fund should fill out the 2024-2025 Allocations Proposal through OUConnect.
For more information about receiving funding, contact SGA Treasurer Ari Lee and review the OUICC website.
SGA Elections
The Student Government Association elects representatives twice a year. Freshman elections are held in September, and elections for the Executive Council, Programming Board, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior class representatives are elected during April of each year.
