In recognition of Pride Month, here’s a look back at one way Oglethorpe students supported the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities this year.
In March, nine Oglethorpe students traveled to Charlotte, NC with the Center for Civic Engagement to partner with Campus Pride, an organization focused on developing necessary resources, programs and services to champion LGBTQ and ally students on college campuses across the United States. The student group explored social and political issues that are particularly relevant and impactful to many members of the LGBTQ+ community, and how they could incorporate these insights into their own campus outreach programs.
Brad Firchow ’19 and Caleb Logan ’18 led the Alternative Spring Break trip, and one of the participants, Luis Pereira Hernandez ’21, chronicled the experience on the Campus Pride site.
