Oglethorpe University’s Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Zeta, a national science and mathematics honor society, recently initiated 16 students and faculty into its membership.
The annual initiation ceremony, held April 19 in Lupton Auditorium, featured Professor of Biology Dr. Lea Alford, who delivered a farewell address to graduating seniors.
The following students and faculty were inducted into Sigma Zeta in 2024:

During the event, the chapter leadership for the upcoming academic year was also announced: Co-President Caitlyn Bradley; Co-President Katurah Mba; Treasurer Keila Garcia Parada; Secretary Allison Ramos; and Sigma Zeta Liaison Keenyn Bradley in a newly-appointed position.
“We’re proud to honor this excellent group of students with membership in Sigma Zeta.” says Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Allison Roessler, the chapter’s advisor. “This honor is a testament to their dedication and signifies a recognition of the immense time and effort they’ve put into their coursework at Oglethorpe. Additionally, it’s a huge honor for faculty initiates who were nominated for initiation by student members of Sigma Zeta. Their nomination indicates they’ve earned the respect of students through their dedication to scholarship and mentorship both in and out of the classroom.”
Oglethorpe’s Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Zeta was founded in 1971 and is the 10th oldest active chapter in the nation.
