Oglethorpe University’s Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Zeta, a national science and mathematics honor society, recently initiated 16 students into its membership.
The annual initiation ceremony, held Apr. 11 in Lupton Auditorium, featured Senior Lecturer of Chemistry Dr. Gregory Gabriel, who delivered a farewell address to graduating seniors.

During the event, the chapter leadership for the upcoming academic year was also announced: Co-Presidents Keimarya Rivera and Hailey Wright; Treasurer Aleesha Justice; Secretary Gracie Sims; and Sigma Zeta Liaison Ashlynn Stephens.
Oglethorpe’s Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Zeta was founded in 1971 and is the 10th oldest active chapter in the nation. 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of this academic honor society, which recognizes outstanding scholarly activity in natural and computer sciences and mathematics.
