Oglethorpe University’s Student Research Development Fund is now accepting applications through Oct. 16.

Established in 2016, the Student Research Development Fund helps Oglethorpe students defray costs incurred while conducting or presenting research. Eligible uses of funds include attending conferences, acquiring research-related equipment and logistical expenses.

The student research development fund has awarded more than 100 stipends since it was established. In past years, students have used the funding within a wide range of disciplines, including biology, art history, English, chemistry, linguistics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, theatre and philosophy.

“Provost Gabrial Barreneche and I are proud to continue Oglethorpe’s rich tradition of investing in student-led academic research,” said Associate Provost Kendra A. King Momon. “We are committed to creating opportunities that empower our students to explore their passions, develop as scholars and leaders, and take confident next steps toward postsecondary education and meaningful careers.”

All students are eligible to apply, with the exception of those already receiving stipends through the Honors program. As part of the application, students will be asked to provide information about their project or presentation, academic goals, presentation date, budget and a statement of support from a sponsoring faculty member.

Applications will be evaluated by a committee comprised of Dr. Kendra King Momon, Dr. Courtney Mullis Sridharan, Dr. Austin Rayford, and Sarah Morris.

The deadline to apply online is Friday, Oct. 16, 2026.
