Trustee Dave Pass ’98 and his family and President Kathryn McClymond have each established matching gift challenges for this year’s OU Giving Day.
President McClymond is sponsoring a $10,000 challenge, which will allow gifts to be made to any fund, and her matching gift will go toward the Oglethorpe Fund.
“I am proud to support the Oglethorpe Fund and look forward to seeing countless donors from the Oglethorpe community contribute to this special giving opportunity,” said Dr. McClymond. “OU Giving Day has grown tremendously in the last several years, and I know this year will be better than ever.”
Annual gifts to the Oglethorpe Fund sustain the heart of the institution and enhance daily opportunities for students. These contributions provide essential, immediate funding for the Oglethorpe experience. Investments in The Oglethorpe Fund directly support life-changing opportunities for students’ successful futures.
This tremendous generosity and servant leadership has inspired the Pass Family to establish a $20,000 matching gift to also be used to support the Oglethorpe Fund.
“I couldn’t have attended OU without scholarships and aid, and I made it a goal to give back at least the amount I received over the course of my lifetime,” said Dave Pass. “OU Giving Day is a great opportunity to give back while leveraging our investment. I would like to see OU Giving Day be a six-figure event for the first time and for us to secure donations from 200 donors.”
This generosity will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, by the Pass Family and President McClymond, with both matches active only on OU Giving Day. Anyone who makes a gift can unlock these challenges, potentially doubling or tripling their impact.
“OU Giving Day is important not just for raising money but for giving the university the opportunity to showcase all of the worthy things it does daily to merit philanthropic investment,” says Pass. “And it is an investment – not charity – in the improved lives and future potential of our students, community and world.”
Alumni, parents and friends should mark their calendars for the big day, Feb. 12, and plan to make a gift to any fund to take advantage of these matching gifts.
